SONG STORY // All The Earth [Glorious Light]

Posted by Chris:

“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” – 2 Corinthians 4:6.

What better image to picture when thinking about a glorious light than the Light? That thought, that imagery is what is behind the entire writing of our upcoming album, “Glorious Light.” We want these lyrics to be intentional about the grace of God, the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

This song, “All The Earth [Glorious Light]” became a two-fold song. The first being in the lyrics themselves – rooted in Psalm 93:3-4, which says, “The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty!” What an awesome image – think of the waves when there is a storm at sea. How intimidating and magnificent the waves rise and crash. Our God is stronger. The floods lift up their voices like a roar. Imagine across the entire earth on that day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess the name of Jesus. I can image that sound to be a deafening roar!

The second part of the song is what represents the title of our album, “Glorious Light.” The instrumental break that builds and builds with the echoey “Whoas” in the background hopefully can give an imagery of a mighty light crashing through the darkness.” The eternal light of Christ is powerful and can penetrate the darkest spaces of our hearts. To Him alone be the glory!

Verse 1
Come let us bow down
Lift up a sweet sound
To say You alone are God
And we are Yours
All sons and daughters
Claimed by the Father
With angels we join the song
Singing alleluia

Verse 2
Hear every heart cry
Raised out of new life
Declaring our love as one
Before Your throne
Gathered unbroken
The promise You’ve spoken
In faith we await the Son
To carry us home

Let Your Name o’er all the earth
Roar like the thunder of raging waters
Let the praises of Your worth
Swell like the sea
Let the arms of nations rise
In glory and wonder of our Great Father
All creation lifting high
Jesus the King
